Our foster carers are amazing. They always go that extra mile to make the children they look after feel safe and loved.

These are some of the little things that make such a difference to the lives of vulnerable children, submitted by the foster carers themselves….

‘Giving my foster daughter a great unicorn themed party’ – Sarah

‘This week I welcomed a child as an emergency – they arrived with their things in carrier bags. I was able to help repack into these foldout holdalls when they moved, allowing the child value, worth and dignity. Going the extra mile for our incredible children’. Paula

Fun and freedom – climbing trees – Gill

Fishing in Minehead with my Foster Boys – Dave

I love giving foster children new experiences and teaching them to be kind to animals.

Christmas Treats…..

Paula Martin: “Post Christmas treat pantomime – Cinderella – great performance! With thanks to Somerset Sight for organising a pre-performance “touch tour” allowing the children with visual impairment to go on to the stage, see the set and handle the props and costumes with one of the ugly sisters.”

Sarah Jane: “Birthday treat air hop!”

“My foster daughter enjoying the elf on the shelf tradition.
Tomorrow she will find elf frozen by Elsa!”

“This is my foster child’s Xmas bedding and their worry monster”

Meeting up with other foster carers to take the children to the best festive streets in Britain.

“Enjoying the ice rink – a little wobbly at first but after a bit confidence blooms”.

“This is our hot chocolate Christmas treat”

“Making up a photo album as a present for a child we have provided respite for, for the past 9 years. Over 100 photos of great memories to keep.”

“Every child deserves to experience the warmth and love that Christmas brings, and to feel like they belong to part of a family”.

“It’s that time of the year again which can produce lots of different emotions in any child, but more so for our foster children.

So we now have a yearly trip to a Christmas fantasy weekend at Butlins, which helps with feelings, and it seems to have become a yearly ritual as all the children enjoy it so much.”

“Children meeting the real Father Christmas arriving at the children’s Village
Christmas party”.

“Our children enjoying advent calendars and candles – may be for the first time. Not understanding one chocolate a day!”

More Elf on the Shelf action – “The Elves are having a family card game 😀

“Sharing Christmas baking skills making mince pies and sausage rolls with a little friend watching.”

“Making new traditions like decorating Christmas biscuits”
